A Project of the Commercial Fisheries Research Foundation
Purpose of Research Program: The purpose of the Southern New England Collaborative Research Initiative (SNECRI) is to provide support to teams of scientists, managers, and members of the commercial fishing industry to work together collaboratively on fisheries research projects. The research program is designed to support 1-2 year research projects, and addresses a range of topics including gear engineering aimed at bycatch reduction and compliance with protected species regulations; reproductive capabilities and discard mortality rates for key species; and evaluation of the socio-economic impacts of fishery management regulations.
